A child pushes a blue chair and coral couch to the right; a long blue arrow and short coral arrow show their different motion distances.
something needs explaining

Why are heavy things hard to push?

The same person nudges a chair and a couch. One jumps forward; one barely changes speed. What resists?

Start an empty wagon and a loaded wagon at matching lines. Give each the same pull: the empty wagon travels farther.

Tap the push. Equal forces act on a light block and a heavy block. Compare how far they move.

Keep the same force and pushing time. Change the mass and compare how far the block travels.

Try two different pushes on the same block. Watch the force-to-mass ratio change.

Cart A gets force four with mass two. Cart B gets force eight with mass four.

Cart A: force 4, mass 2. Cart B: force 8, mass 4.

Which cart gains speed faster?
